Closed areas: Boonoo Boonoo Falls Picnic Area and Parts of the River Walk Closed for Construction

Boonoo Boonoo Falls Road is closed approximately 2km south of the Boonoo Boonoo Falls picnic area from 7am Monday 29 April 2024 until 5pm Friday 12 July 2024. This closure extends to the Boonoo Boonoo Falls Picnic Area, Rockpools View walk, Falls Lookout walk, Rockpool Ramble walk, Boonoo Boonoo Falls Lookout, and 2km of the River walk, north of Link Road.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting aerial and ground baiting programs. Aerial baiting is scheduled from Monday 10 June 2024 to Monday 17 June 2024. Ground baiting is scheduled from 10 June 2024 to Sunday 18 August 2024. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes and wild dogs.

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.

Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Campground closed for flood repairs

Lemon Tree Flat campground will be closed from 7am Wednesday 19 June until 2pm Friday 23 August 2024 to allow for major flood recovery and mitigation works to be completed. 

The Junction walk and access to Dungeon lookout will still be available from Kookibitta campground.

Other planned events: Road maintenance works on T-Ridge Road in Nymboida National Park.

Road and roadside vegetation maintenance works will be occurring on T-Ridge Road and around the Nymboida River Campground from Monday 20 May until Tuesday 28 May 2024, pending weather.

Please comply with advisory signage. Vehicles will be able to access using T-Ridge road to the Nymboida River Campground and this campground remains open during these works. For more information, contact the NPWS Grafton Area office.

Closed areas: Road closure

Some areas of this park are closed until further notice due to the demolition of a bridge from a past flooding event.

The closed areas include the 4WD access to North Washpool, an area also known as Washpool rest area, entering from Baryulgil onto Collum Collum Road. The bridge is washed away at the junction of Washpool Creek and Collum Collum Road.

Please note:

  • Washpool National Park’s 2WD entrance off Gwydir Highway onto Coachwood Drive and Washpool Forest Way is open.
  • Bellbird campground, Coombadjha campground and the Granites lookout and picnic areas are accessible.

Butterleaf Road, the access road into Butterleaf NP through the adjoining State Forest, is in very poor condition, and access is restricted to 4WD only. Please exercise caution and drive to conditions.
