Closed areas: Woody Bay Beach at Woody Head closed for emergency coastal protection works
Woody Bay Beach at Woody Head in Bundjalung National Park will be closed for emergency coastal protection works from Monday 24 March to Friday 4 April. This to address recent significant coastal erosion following ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
NPWS will be undertaking this emergency coastal protection works adjacent to the western end of the rock wall on Woody Bay Beach, to address public safety risks in this area.
Works will involve placing sandbags and beach nourishment to reshape and rebuild the sand dune.
There will be no public access to this section of the beach for the duration of the works.
There will be some noise associated with the works, between 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. For further information contact the Grafton National Parks area office on 02 6641 1500.

NPWS will be undertaking works in response to recent coastal erosion in Woody Bay near Woody Head Campground.
These works will involve excavating sand from nearby borrow pit, moving and stockpiling sand and then, filling sandbags in preparation for use.
Machinery will be operating between 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. There will be noise due to machinery works.

The operations will use meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes. Signs will be placed at the entry to all the baiting locations. Domestic pets are not permitted in NPWS managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting locations. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

NPWS advises visitors using the Mount Jerusalem National Park Central Trails, Unicorn Falls walking track and Whiskey Creek walk to access these areas via Uki using Rowlands Creek Road and Manns Road. Byron Shire Council are currently undertaking flood restoration works within the Main Arm valley. These works include the restoration and repair of culverts and causeways along Main Arm Road, which is the main vehicle access to Mount Jerusalem National Park when approaching from Mullumbimby. Byron Shire Council have advised that Main Arm Road should only be used by local traffic. Flood restoration works to Main Arm Road are expected to be completed by early 2026. Some areas of this park are closed until further notice due to the demolition of a bridge from a past flooding event.
The closed areas include the 4WD access to North Washpool, an area also known as Washpool rest area, entering from Baryulgil onto Collum Collum Road. The bridge is washed away at the junction of Washpool Creek and Collum Collum Road.

- Washpool National Park’s 2WD entrance off Gwydir Highway onto Coachwood Drive and Washpool Forest Way is open.
- Bellbird campground, Coombadjha campground and the Granites lookout and picnic areas are accessible.

Toonumbar Forest Drive and Coxs Road are closed until winter 2025. Estimated re-opening date is June following completion of maintenance works.
Both roads are not safely trafficable in wet conditions and are therefore seasonally closed from late spring until late autumn dependant on rainfall during the wet season. There may also be additional closures during forecast weather events and damage during the winter period.

Bundjalung National Park visitors may experience loud aircraft noise until further notice. RAAF training operations from the nearby Evans Head Air Weapons Range may be heard and seen from the Black Rocks campground and Jerusalem Creek paddle route and walking track.

- RAAF schedules for the Air Weapons Range in Bundjalung National Park can change at short notice due to weather or other operational considerations.
