Closed areas: Woody Bay Beach at Woody Head closed for emergency coastal protection works
Woody Bay Beach at Woody Head in Bundjalung National Park will be closed for emergency coastal protection works from Monday 24 March to Friday 4 April. This to address recent significant coastal erosion following ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
NPWS will be undertaking this emergency coastal protection works adjacent to the western end of the rock wall on Woody Bay Beach, to address public safety risks in this area.
Works will involve placing sandbags and beach nourishment to reshape and rebuild the sand dune.
There will be no public access to this section of the beach for the duration of the works.
There will be some noise associated with the works, between 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. For further information contact the Grafton National Parks area office on 02 6641 1500.

Other planned events: Preparation works due to Coastal Erosion at Woody Head 19th – 27th March
NPWS will be undertaking works in response to recent coastal erosion in Woody Bay near Woody Head Campground.
These works will involve excavating sand from nearby borrow pit, moving and stockpiling sand and then, filling sandbags in preparation for use.
Machinery will be operating between 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. There will be noise due to machinery works.
Please drive slowly and obey the traffic controllers on site.

Bundjalung National Park visitors may experience loud aircraft noise until further notice. RAAF training operations from the nearby Evans Head Air Weapons Range may be heard and seen from the Black Rocks campground and Jerusalem Creek paddle route and walking track.
Please note:
- The RAAF schedule of planned air operations is available on the Defence Aircraft Noise webpage.
- RAAF schedules for the Air Weapons Range in Bundjalung National Park can change at short notice due to weather or other operational considerations.
- Aircraft may not utilise the range every day of scheduled operations.

Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive will be closed for works from Monday 24 March to Thursday 17 April 2025 due to road repair works.

The private Airbnb cabin off Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive will not be accessible via Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive for the duration of the closure, contact the owner for more information.
There will be no access to Peacock Creek campground via Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive until the road re-opens. Please use Iron Pot Creek Road, Sextonville Road or Peacock Creek Road.

Safety alerts: Peacock Creek campground access changed
Access to Peacock Creek campground has changed due to deterioration of local roads following the impacts of Cyclone Alfred. See below best options to access the campground whilst repairs and upgrades take place on local roads:
- Iron Pot Creek Road via Kyogle (north) - All weather best access is from Kyogle via Afterlee Road to the Dam Access Road, then a left turn onto Brays Road, right turn onto Logan's Bridge Road, right turn onto Iron Pot Creek Road. Follow signs to Bonalbo once on Brays Road.
- Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive via Bruxner Highway (south) - best access when open, 2WD suitable in dry weather only. Intermittently closed during periods of wet weather. *closed until April 17 due to repair works, check relevant alert for more details.
- Sextonville Road via Summerland Way (east) - suitable for 4WDs only, badly damaged with large pot holes and deep ruts. Repair works soon to commence, check for alerts.
- Peacock Creek Road via Clarence way (west) - 4WD only, not recommended for towing. Two steep creek crossings not suitable for 2WD/AWD, narrow weed affected road sections, badly damaged with large pot holes.

Kings Beach in Broken Head Nature Reserve is a culturally significant place for local Aboriginal people and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. For decades, the beach has been a place for social connection, leisure, and at times grief - with the ashes of people lost to AIDS scattered there over the years.
Kings Beach continues to be a place for the LGBTQIA+ community to enjoy, however due to increased visitation and the shared nature of this beloved destination, Kings Beach is not a designated clothing optional area.
All visitors have the right to feel safe and enjoy the beach without harassment and NPWS Officers play an important role in conserving this protected habitat. Please comply with the Broken Head Reserve Plan of Management and respect each other’s right to enjoy the beach in peace and safety.

Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location.
