NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program from Tuesday 1 April 2025 to Wednesday 1 October 2025. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of feral cats using Felixer unit.

The program will take place in Bundjalung National Park.

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species.

Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Other planned events: Kings Beach – not clothing optional

Kings Beach in Broken Head Nature Reserve is a culturally significant place for local Aboriginal people and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. For decades, the beach has been a place for social connection, leisure, and at times grief - with the ashes of people lost to AIDS scattered there over the years.

Kings Beach continues to be a place for the LGBTQIA+ community to enjoy, however due to increased visitation and the shared nature of this beloved destination, Kings Beach is not a designated clothing optional area.

All visitors have the right to feel safe and enjoy the beach without harassment and NPWS Officers play an important role in conserving this protected habitat. Please comply with the Broken Head Reserve Plan of Management and respect each other’s right to enjoy the beach in peace and safety.
