Closed areas: Worimi Conservation Lands is currently closed to vehicles due to recent weather events and archaeological cultural sites
Worimi Conservation Lands, the RVA and Ganyamalbaa Campground is CURRENTLY CLOSED to vehicles and will reopen Friday January 24th 2025.
Most of the Worimi Conservation Lands will be open this long weekend with some temporary closures still in place following severe weather.
The recent storms impacted the Aboriginal-owned Worimi Conservation Lands, with hazardous conditions and the exposure of large numbers of Aboriginal cultural heritage sites in the park, forcing the closure of the park to beach driving.
From time-to-time severe weather events have an impact on the WCL that require temporary closures.
For this long weekend:
· Vehicles are allowed on the beach front between the Gan Gan 4WD access at Anna Bay and the Lavis Lane 4WD access at Williamtown only. The Fern Bay 4WD access is temporarily closed.
· Dune driving in the Recreational Vehicle Area will be temporarily closed. This means no quad bikes, ATVs or four wheel drives on any dunes.
· Camping is not available with the temporary closure of Ganyamalbaa campground.
· Pedestrians are allowed on the beach as per usual.
Commercial tour operators will continue to access the park with agreed measures in place to ensure the exposed cultural sites are not impacted. The Aboriginal-owned Worimi Conservation Lands is jointly managed by the local Worimi community and NPWS, under the direction of the WCL Board of Management. The Board is committed to protecting Worimi cultural heritage and providing safe and sustainable visitor access.
People are reminded to respect other visitors and staff – who are working to protect the natural and cultural values of the land – and ensure everyone enjoys their visit. Visitors who do not follow directions given by staff will be asked to leave and may be fined.

Safety alerts: Australia Day Weekend - Park closure notice if capacity is reached
The Australia Day Weekend is predicted to be extremely busy as Munmorah SCA is a popular place to come for walks or to the beaches.
- Public safety is our number one priority, so please do not park on the sides of roads or where you will block access for large emergency service vehicles.
- We ask visitors to carpool where possible and obey all parking signs. Parking is limited in carparks and they fill up quickly so patience is required when visiting over the weekend.
- When walking to and from your car please take care and watch for pedestrians as you are driving through the park
If visitation and traffic congestion reaches its peak and becomes unsafe in our visitor areas we will close the Park entries until safe levels of visitation have been reached. Peak times are 10:30am to 2pm.
We advise visitors to plan your day around these possible closures and ensure that closures will be kept to a short a time as possible to keep the park open and as safe as possible.
Please keep a look out for Park Fire Bans as this will affect your ability to have gas BBQ's and cook your meals. You will need to use the BBQ's supplied in the park and these will be busy.
Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information, contact the NPWS local area office during business hours Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm on 02 4972 9000. Note the office is not open public holidays.
