Closed areas: Campground and picnic area closed due to road conditions

Due to degraded conditions on the access road into Boundary Falls campground and picnic area following heavy rain, the access road is closed from 8am Monday 8 July until 2pm Monday 29 July 2024.

Boundary Falls, Lyrebird Falls and Duffer Falls are still accessible on foot from other campgrounds and picnic areas, but please be mindful of additional distances required to undertake these walks.

Closed areas: Boonoo Boonoo Falls Picnic Area and Parts of the River Walk Closed for Construction

Boonoo Boonoo Falls Road is closed approximately 2km south of the Boonoo Boonoo Falls picnic area from 7am Monday 29 April 2024 until 5pm Saturday 27th July 2024. This closure extends to the Boonoo Boonoo Falls Picnic Area, Rockpools View walk, Falls Lookout walk, Rockpool Ramble walk, Boonoo Boonoo Falls Lookout, and 2km of the River walk, north of Link Road.

Closed areas: Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive partial closure

Due to storm damage, Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive will be closed between Peacock Creek Road and Mount Babyl until 14 July 2024. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

The road will remain open between Cambridge Plateau picnic area and the Bruxner Highway. This section of road is not suitable for 2WD vehicles in wet weather until final road surface repairs in September 2024.

  • Peacock Creek campground will remain open and can be accessed via Peacock Creek Road, Sextonville Road or Iron Pot Creek Road
  • Cambridge Plateau picnic area and Culmarran Valley Track and Cambridge loop walk will remain open and accessible from the south via the Bruxner Highway
  • Guests wish to access the cabin north of Cambridge Plateau picnic area can do so from the south via the Bruxner Highway
  • Many local roads are still impacted by pot holes and similar damage from recent flooding, all visitors should drive with care and to conditions

Closed areas: Toonumbar Forest Drive and Cox's Road closed

From 1 January 2024, Toonumbar Forest Drive and Cox's Road are closed until winter 2024. Estimated re-opening date is late July following completion of maintenance works.

Sherwood lookout and Murray Scrub lookout remain closed until the roads are re-opened. Iron Pot Creek campground and Murray Scrub walking track are only accessible via Murray Scrub Road from Afterlee.

Both roads are not safely trafficable in wet conditions and are therefore seasonally closed from late spring until late autumn dependant on rainfall during the wet season. There may also be additional closures during forecast weather events and damage during the winter period.

Peacock Creek campground will be closed for maintenance works from Monday 22 to Thursday 25 July 2024.

  • Peacock Creek campground will be closed by 4pm on Monday 22 and re-opened by 10am on Friday 26
  • Cambridge Plateau picnic area and Cambridge loop walk will remain open and accessible from the south via the Bruxner Highway

Yabbra National Park is closed until further notice. The closure is due to damage from recent weather events, planned roadworks and ongoing pest control programs. Joes Box Road, Yabbra Plains Road, South Haystack Feeder Road and Pocupar Road are management trails only with only authorised vehicles permitted.

Closed areas: Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive Future Closure - 14 July to 31 August 2024

Cambridge Plateau Forest Drive will be closed between Cambridge picnic area and Peacock Creek Road from 14 July to 31 August 2024 for road pavement repairs. During these works:

  • Peacock Creek campground will remain open and can be accessed from the west via Peacock Creek Road or from the east via Sextonville Road
  • Cambridge Plateau picnic area and related walking tracks will remain open and accessible from the south via the Bruxner Hwy
  • There will be no access to the cabin north of Cambridge Plateau picnic area during most of the closure period. Guests can contact the cabin owner regarding their stay and access requirements.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting aerial and ground baiting programs. Aerial baiting is scheduled from Monday 10 June 2024 to Monday 17 June 2024. Ground baiting is scheduled from 10 June 2024 to Sunday 18 August 2024. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of foxes and wild dogs.

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.

Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Closed areas: Road closure

Some areas of this park are closed until further notice due to the demolition of a bridge from a past flooding event.

The closed areas include the 4WD access to North Washpool, an area also known as Washpool rest area, entering from Baryulgil onto Collum Collum Road. The bridge is washed away at the junction of Washpool Creek and Collum Collum Road.

Please note:

  • Washpool National Park’s 2WD entrance off Gwydir Highway onto Coachwood Drive and Washpool Forest Way is open.
  • Bellbird campground, Coombadjha campground and the Granites lookout and picnic areas are accessible.
