Byarong Park in Illawarra Escarpment State Conservation Area is a charming spot for a nature-based wedding or outdoor event. It’s conveniently located just 10mins drive from Wollongong, so you’ll have everything you need for your big day at your fingertips.
Set up in the grassy clearing and hold your celebration under the shade of the tall trees at the base of Mount Keira. With plenty of kookaburras, lyrebirds and vibrant parrots overhead, you may find you exchange vows to flashes of colour and the chorus of birdsong.
After the ceremony, your guests can enjoy drinks and canapes in the dappled sunlight at one of the picnic tables. If you feel like stretching your legs, this peaceful location is a terrific base for exploring the lush forests of the park. Go for a walk along nearby Mount Keira ring track which begins from Byarong Park carpark. Or take a short drive to Robertson lookout for scenic views of Mount Keira and the nearby coastline.

Illawarra Escarpment State Conservation Area is always open but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger. However, it is recommended that bushwalking only be undertaken during daylight hours because of the presence of cliff edges and other hazards.
