Please note
  • This campground is not accessible with a vehicle. It's a 2 to 3 hour walk to reach the campground.
  • The walk down to Burra Korain Flat campground from Victoria Falls is 4 km (8km return). It is a Grade 4 track which is challenging, very steep, with many steps.
  • There are no marked sites.
  • There is no mobile phone reception below Grose Valley lookout in the Grose Valley.
  • This is a remote campground so you'll need to carry in your food, water and tent for your duration in the valley, and take all rubbish out.
  • It's a good idea to organise a car pool and drop offs to ensure that cars aren’t left in remote areas for extended periods.

Burra Korain Flat campground is located in the Grose Wilderness Area. It's a 2 to 3 hour walk from Victoria Falls. It’s located at the junction of Victoria Creek and Grose River, deep in the Grose Valley near Mount Victoria.

Campers and walkers will need to be experienced and well prepared. The campground has a toilet but no drinking water. Campers will need to gather water from the creek and boil it for at least 3 minutes.

To reach Burra Korain Flat campground, start at the carpark at the end of Victoria Falls Road and take the walking track to Victoria Falls. Stop at Grose Valley lookout to see your final destination at the base of the valley. Continue past the lookout and follow the track to the left. The steep path zig zags down the sandstone cliff.

Short side paths lead to pretty Silver Cascades and the top of Victoria Falls, as the main track continues down to the base of the waterfall. From the base of the falls you’ll take the Burra Korain Flat to Blue Gum Forest walking track which winds its way alongside Victoria Creek. Continue through the forest for 1.5 km and you’ll reach your base for the evening.

When you arrive, unpack your tent and take a moment to breathe in the mountain air and Grose Valley Wilderness. Listen for the calls of sulphur-crested and yellow-tailed black cockatoos and watch for wallabies and quolls as the sun sets. If you are continuing along the Grose Valley walking track towards a second night at Acacia Flat campground, head off along Burra Korain Flat to Blue Gum Forest walking track again, this time following the Grose River. After 3.5 km you’ll meet the Pierces Pass to Blue Gum Forest walking track which leads to Acacia Flat.
