Closed parks: The Glen Nature Reserve closed for Fire Access and Fire Trail Upgrades (FAFT)
The Glen Nature Reserve will be closed from Monday 14 October through to the 30th of January to allow contractors to undertake trail upgrade works. The closure has been put in place for the safety of both visitors and the contractors. The planned works and this closure may be weather dependent.

Closed areas: 4WD Trail Closures
Some 4WD trails remain closed after the annual seasonal closure period (from 1 June to 30 September) due to trail conditions. The following 4WD trails remain closed:
- Tugalow trail
- Thunderbolts trail - between Barrington Tops Forest Road and Pheasants Creek Road
- Barrington Trail (south), after the Junction Pools campground turnoff.
This closure does not affect public vehicle access to Polblue, Gummi Falls, Devils Hole, Horse Swamp, Little Murray, or Junction Pools campgrounds.
Walkers and mountain bikers are still permitted to utilise these trails while it is closed to public vehicles.

Safety alerts: Feral horses
Feral horses move through this campground day and night. Campers at Little Murray and Polblue campgrounds should set up tents as close to their vehicles as possible.
Aggressive horse behaviour can pose a safety risk for visitors. Aggressive behaviour includes snorting, head bobbing, stomping front legs, ears erect, aggressive stance and approaching in an aggressive manner.
What to do around aggressive horses:
· avoid the animals, especially if a stallion is present and there are mares nearby
· retreat to your vehicle
· wave your arms around and make lots of noise
· walk in a group rather than as an individual
· always be aware of your immediate surroundings.

Closed areas: Yacaaba Headland Walking Track partial closure
Yacaaba Headland walking track, in southern Myall Lakes National Park at Hawks Nest, is open to a viewing point.
Beyond this point the track is closed for visitor safety due to track construction and environmental assessments.

Yacaaba Spit Track remains open and people can continue to walk along the beach.

Closed parks: Corrie Island Closed to protect endangered birds
Corrie Island Nature Reserve will be closed from 5pm Tuesday 1st of October 2024 to 5pm Monday 31st March 2025 to protect the nesting area for endangered birds.
Visitors will not be able to visit, or land anywhere on Corrie Island at any time, day or night.

Fire bans: Mount Royal NP
A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed.
However, Youngville campground is exempt in Mount Royal National Park.
During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:
- They're under direct control of an adult
- The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
- There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)
If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

Safety alerts: Dangerous sea and unsafe swimming conditions
Please do not swim or enter the water at unpatrolled beaches in Tomaree National Park. Tragically, people have drowned while swimming at several locations within the park.
Many of the beaches are remote, unpatrolled and have dangerous rip currents, unexpected large waves and sudden drop offs. Ocean conditions can change rapidly.
Mobile phone service is also limited. You may not be able to call for help if you need it.
NPWS recommends swimming at patrolled beaches between the red and yellow flags at the following locations:
- Fingal Beach
- One Mile Beach
- Anna Bay

Box Beach carpark is closed to vehicles from 10pm to 5am daily. The gate will be locked during these times.
The Box Beach access road is also closed to vehicles during this period.

Safety alerts: Werakata National Park Closure for deer control shoot operation
Parts of Werakata National Park will be closed within a date range of 1700 (5pm) Wednesday 31st July 2024 to 2300 Saturday 7th December 2024 for deer control shoot operations preventing localised economic impacts and protecting Threatened Ecological Communities within the park.
When active the shoot operation area will be delignated by signage advising visitors “do not enter” at any time during the nighttime operation.

Closed areas: Mungo track detour due to flood damage
The boardwalk between Tamboi trail and Brambles Green campground is permanently closed due to flood damage.
Walkers on the Mungo Track can take the detour at Mungo Brush. Please follow the walking track to the beach and then walk south for 4km. Take the slashed management trail which connects the beach to Mungo Brush Road to re-join the Mungo Track.

Beach driving conditions remain variable due to changing swell, tides and weather conditions. Drivers are advised to exercise caution when driving and to check conditions before travel.
Please remember to:
- Look out for soft sand, erosion, wash outs and drop-offs.
- Avoid driving through sea water, foam or large pools of water. Driving conditions can change rapidly. Several vehicles on this beach have ended up in the ocean or swamped by water.
- Check conditions before arriving, and if in doubt save your visit for another day.
Please follow the directions of National Parks and Wildlife Service personnel and/or signage. Do not drive over the frontal dune or any vegetation.

Closed areas: Phytophthora quarantine area - Barrington Tops National Park
Phytophthora is a mould that causes dieback in plants. It's been found on the plateau in Barrington Tops National Park, predominantly on the Watergauge trail between Beean Beean and Black Swamp. The affected area is under quarantine with absolutely no visitor access.
Phytophthora is readily spread by mud carried by walkers' shoes and mountain-bike tyres. There are boot wash stations across the plateau for walkers to use, to ensure their boots 'Start clean, Stay clean'.
