Guy Fawkes River Flora Reserve
Overview
Guy Fawkes River Flora Reserve was created in November 2020. It covers an area of 1304ha. View the detailed park and fire management documents.
Located about 130km southeast of Glen Innes, the reserve lies on the Dorrigo Plateau along the western edge of Guy Fawkes River National Park.
Guy Fawkes River Flora Reserve is in Gumbaynggir Country. It’s part of the Guy Fawkes River group of reserves, lands of high conservation value that link up to form an important regional habitat corridor for wildlife.
The Guy Fawkes River group of reserves straddle rugged country on the eastern escarpment of the Great Dividing Range. Here the Guy Fawkes, Aberfoyle, Sara and Boyd rivers run through steep gorges among tall eucalypt forests. These lands are home to diverse wildlife, including spotted-tailed quolls, powerful owls and 23 other threatened animal species.
About flora reserves
Flora reserves were established under the Forestry Act 2012 and remain State Forest. Under a unique management arrangement, this land is managed by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. This is to ensure management is consistent with the adjoining national parks and reserves.
