Gamilaroi Nature Reserve
Overview
Gamilaroi Nature Reserve was created in May 1994. It covers an area of 114ha. View the detailed park and fire management documents.
Gamilaroi Nature Reserve contains one of only seven small occurrences of ooline in NSW. This species is of considerable biogeographic interest as it is a relic of extensive rainforest vegetation that once covered much of Australia. Ooline is listed as vulnerable under the Threatened Species Conservation Act. Gomilaroi Nature Reserve is the only NPWS reserve where it is known to occur.
The reserve is managed primarily for the conservation of ooline, so recreation is not encouraged.
