Wentworth Falls to Leura walk offers the very best of bushwalking in the Blue Mountains. It's Day 1 for those tackling Grand Cliff Top Walk, and begins at Wentworth Falls village. Cross the road to Wilsons Park and follow Darwins walk south along a pretty creekline towards Blue Mountains National Park.
You'll enjoy the sights from many lookouts offering views high above the Jamison Valley. Your first stop is Weeping Rock, a picturesque waterfall above Wentworth Falls, where the creek tumbles over a rock overhang. Listen for the roar of Wentworth Falls as the waters of Jamison Creek flow 100 metres to the valley floor. The falls are named after explorer William Charles Wentworth, one of the men who headed the expedition to cross the mountains in 1813.
From here, as you travel west toward Leura, listen for cheeky lyrebirds on the ground and watch for yellow-tailed black cockatoos soaring above the trees. There's plenty to photograph as you traverse the cliff-top trails and rainforest gullies, including a stunning section of track where the cliff top arches overhead. Stop for a break at one of the many lookouts along the way, and bask in the natural beauty of this World Heritage area, first protected in 2000.
The walk traverses west towards Golf Links lookout and the lush Pool of Siloam before you climb the many steps to Gordon Falls picnic area where it ends. You can take a quick detour to Gordon Falls lookout or save it for day 2. When you’ve finished your walk, grab a meal and browse through the charming village of Leura. You’ll find plenty of art deco cafes, restaurants, and local shops to explore.
Wentworth Falls to Leura walk is part of Grand Cliff Top Walk and is operated in partnership between NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and Blue Mountains City Council.
