Due to heavy rainfall, Glenbrook causeway is now closed. There is no access to Euroka Campground, Red Hands Cave, Nepean Lookout, or the Oaks firetrail.

Other planned events: Illegal track network closure and rehabilitation

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is undertaking closure and rehabilitation of the illegal track network in Mulgoa Nature Reserve. These works include track removal, bush regeneration including weed removal and erosion control works. Please help us to look after the reserve by walking and exercising only on the parks main vehicle fire trail network. Please be aware that the following are not permitted in Mulgoa Nature Reserve at all times, Mountain bikes, trail bikes, e bikes, scooters and dogs. Nepean River Fire Trail (Transgrid Trail) in Yellomundee Regional Park will be closed weekdays for flood repairs and maintenance from Monday 14 April 2025 until Friday 18 July 2025 inclusive. Areas affected will include:

  • Shaws Creek Aboriginal Place;
  • Nepean River Fire Trail (Transgrid Trail)
  • Local mountain bike tracks within Yellomundee RP

The following areas and walking tracks are closed from 1 April 2025 until further notice:

  • Red Hands Cave
  • Red Hands Cave walking track
  • Campfire Creek walking track
  • the Link walking track

This is to allow for works on the elevated platform at Red Hands Cave. For your safety, please follow all signs and instructions of NPWS staff.

Fire bans: Kanangra Reserves

A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed.

However Wombeyan Caves campground in Wombeyan Karst Conservation Reserve is exempt.

During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

Closed areas: Burragorang SCA partly closed for deer control program

Burragorang State Conservation Area will be closed between 5:00pm and 6:00am, from Monday 24 March 2025 - Monday 30 June 2025, for a feral deer management program. 

This program is part of our ongoing efforts to reduce the significant impact of deer on native plants and animals, including threatened species.

  • The control method will involve use of firearms by qualified and experienced contractors and staff.
  • Closures will not apply on weekends or public holidays during this period.
