‘Giinagay, yilaami yaanyji gaaln garr billiyami’ – ‘Hello, come and walk through the rainforest’.
Bring the whole family to meet Ranger Matt, a local Gumbaynggirr man. He’ll welcome you to country in language that’s been spoken on this land for thousands of years. You’ll view the Dorrigo rainforest with fresh eyes and appreciate its rich resources, which have been sustainably cared for and used by Gumbaynggirr people for millennia.
Ranger Matt will invite you to smell, touch and sometimes even taste seasonal fruits and materials of the rainforest. Throughout the tour, he’ll share his language and culture, which have been part of this landscape for thousands of years. It’s a fantastic opportunity to listen to stories from country, on country.
After the tour, you can continue on the nearby Walk with the Birds boardwalk, do a self-guided walk to the Crystal Shower and Tristania Falls, or return to the rainforest centre.
