Heavy rainfall and flooding combined with damaging winds caused by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred are expected across northern NSW over the next few days. Most national parks in northern NSW including campgrounds and day use areas will be closed for safety.

Wallingat National Park is closed from 6/3/25 to 13/3/25 due to potential weather impacts of TC Alfred.

 

Remember, it’s never safe to drive, ride or walk through flood waters. Roads into and throughout the park are closed.

Closed parks: National Parks closed due to severe weather event

National Parks are closed from 5th March to 12th March due to the potentially severe weather conditions associated with the impact of Tropical Cyclone Alfred. Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Closed areas: Beaches in Myall Lakes National Park temporarily closed to 4WD vehicles

Mungo Beach and Lighthouse Beach in Myall Lakes National Park are closed to 4WD vehicles until further notice due to beach erosion and extreme tides associated with TC Alfred.  Beach driving conditions are being regularly assessed.  Please continue to check website for further updates.

Closed areas: Yacaaba Headland walking track partial closure

Yacaaba Headland walking track, in southern Myall Lakes National Park at Hawks Nest, is open to a viewing point.

Beyond this point the track is closed for visitor safety due to track construction and environmental assessments.

Penalties may apply for non-compliance.

Yacaaba Spit track remains open and people can continue to walk along the beach.

Mungo Brush rotunda upgrade works are scheduled from Monday 17 February to Friday 11 April 2025. Works include relocation and repairs to the structure.

Closed areas: Mungo track detour due to flood damage

The boardwalk between Tamboi trail and Brambles Green campground is permanently closed due to flood damage.

Walkers on the Mungo Track can take the detour at Mungo Brush. Please follow the walking track to the beach and then walk south for 4km. Take the slashed management trail which connects the beach to Mungo Brush Road to re-join the Mungo Track.
