Join us on a WildTracker Science and Technology excursion for Stage 2 (Years 3-4) students at Audley in the Royal National Park. We'll don our detective hats and investigate, explore and analyse the natural environment, identify and group species, and discover the key elements that make up quality habitat for native plants and animals.

From our base at Audley, we'll learn about the critical relationships between certain plants and animals, and uncover physical evidence leading to deeper enquiry. Our NPWS guide will help students locate amazing wildlife and explain national parks' ongoing role in protecting their ecosystem.

Objectives

Students will:

  • Explore and examine the beautiful, natural environment at Royal National Park 
  • Investigate the features and adaptations of a range of native plants and animals, discussing interdependencies 
  • Develop skills of scientific enquiry through observation and discussion
  • Learn about the role NPWS plays in protecting and conserving the environment, including protective interventions such as preventative burns.

Easy. Guided tour and activities along a bush track. Activities amongst leaf litter and in a grassed picnic area.

$17 per student for groups of 25 or more. GST included. For smaller groups conditions apply.

Meeting point

Meet at the Royal National Park area office carpark at 159 Farnell Avenue, Audley Heights. The office and carpark are located 100m past the park entrance on the left.

Buses please report to the Royal National Park area office. An NPWS guide will join the bus, then the group will continue on to Audley Weir.

  • in Royal National Park in the Sydney and surrounds and South Coast regions
  • Royal National Park is open 7am to 8.30pm but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • Park entry fees:

    $12 per vehicle per day. Payment options include Audley Visitor Centre, vehicle entry stations, pay machines and the Park’nPay app.

    Vehicles over 8 seats: $4.40 per adult, $2.20 per child (per day). Students on educational programs: $1.10 per student. Teachers/educational supervisors: free (1 adult per 10 students).
