  • Campsites are marked and suitable for caravans, camper  trailers, campervans and tents.
  • To maintain healthy turf, try to avoid setting up on recently used sections of grass. 

Bonnie Vale is a family-friendly campground located between Bundeena and Maianbar at the north end of Royal National Park. This popular riverside campground is known for its large sand spit, which makes it a great swimming spot.

Whether you choose to pitch a tent or bring your caravan, you’re sure to have a comfortable stay at Bonnie Vale. The campground has a mix of powered and unpowered sites, and is equipped with flush toilets, hot showers and drinking water, so you won’t need to rough it.

Go fishing at nearby Jibbon Beach, enjoy a barbecue by the sea or hike along Royal National Park’s long list of walking tracks. On weekends, you can even hire a kayak and paddle in the Hacking River.

During school holidays on weekdays NSW National Parks runs guided activities for kids at the campground. Check the noticeboard and book on site.

Fishing at Jibbon Beach

Cast your line at this sandy, sheltered beach in Bundeena which looks north across to Port Hacking. It’s a 10min drive from the campground.

Paddle the Hacking River

Launch your kayak or paddle board from Bonnie Vale picnic area and explore the park from the water. Paddle the gorgeous bays and sandy beaches or head further up the Hacking River.

The Coast track

Bring your hiking gear and explore Bundeena’s coast and cliffs along a section of The Coast track. It’s a short drive from the campground to the start of this multi-day walk in Bundeena.

Stay longer, explore further

Explore Cronulla

Take a short ferry trip from nearby Bundeena Wharf across Port Hacking to Cronulla on the MV Curranulla, the oldest commuter ferry in Australia. Explore Cronulla Beach foreshore on the Cronulla Esplanade walk before heading back on the ferry.

Audley Weir

Head to historic Audley, 20 minutes drive away. Relax and unwind with views over Hacking River at The Audley Dance Hall Cafe, or hire a kayak from Audley Boatshed and spend a few relaxed hours on the water padding up Kangaroo Creek.

  • in Royal National Park in the Sydney and surrounds and South Coast regions
  • Royal National Park is open 7am to 8.30pm but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

  • Park entry fees:

    $12 per vehicle per day. Payment options include Audley Visitor Centre, vehicle entry stations, pay machines and the Park’nPay app.

    Vehicles over 8 seats: $4.40 per adult, $2.20 per child (per day). Students on educational programs: $1.10 per student. Teachers/educational supervisors: free (1 adult per 10 students).
