On 9th November up to 900 people will be particpating in The Bouddi Coastal Run though Bouddi National Park. 

Participants will be utilising the follwing Tracks and Trails: Bouddi Coastal Walk, Maitland Bay Track, Little Beach Trail, Bombi Moor Fire Trail, Third Point Trail, Old Quarry Trail, Mount Bouddi Walking Track, Mount Bouddi Rd, and Stroms Trail.

Safety alerts: Major Roadworks in Jilliby State Conservation Area - ongoing

Major roadworks are ongoing in Jilliby State Conservation Area (Southern Precinct) and part of Ourimbah State Forest.

Partial and intermittent road closures should be expected. The roads that will be affected are:

  • Red Hill Road
  • Prestons Ridge Road
  • Bradleys Point Road
  • Campbells Point Road and
  • Tooheys Road.

Visitors are asked to avoid the area (if possible). Otherwise, please be aware of trucks and machinery using and working on the above roads and to drive to the conditions. Warning signs and traffic control will be in place. Work is expected to be completed by December 2024. The work is funded as part of the Fire Access and Fire Trail (FAFT) program aimed at providing safe and strategic fire trails for fire response and access.

Closed areas: Ironbark Picnic Area Closed

A section of Ironbark Road will be closed for maintenance works from 28/10/2024 until 29/11/2024.

Access to the following sites will will not be possible during this time: 

  • Ironbark Picnic Area
  • Hominy Creek Walking Track
  • 248 Trail
  • Mount Olive Train
  • Mount Olive Lookout

Temporary fencing will be in place, please obey signage and do not enter closed areas during this time.

Closed areas: Little Beach campground and access road closed for culvert replacement

Little Beach Fire trail will be closed between Sunday 27th October – Friday 15th November.

Little Beach Camp ground is also closed to campers during this time.

You can still access Little Beach, the Coastal Walk and the Murawaring Moor Track by using the Little beach walking track which you acessed from Graham Drive.

Closed areas: Mill Creek Visitor Precinct closed

The Mill Creek Visitor Precinct of Dharug National Park is closed for toilet upgrades from Sunday 27 October to Friday 6 December 2024. The closed areas are:

  • Mill Creek campground
  • Mill Creek picnic area
  • 11km walking track
  • Grass Tree circuit

Fire bans: Dharug NP

A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed.

However, the following campgrounds are exempt in Dharug National Park:

  • Mill Creek
  • Ten Mile Hollow

During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

Closed parks: Muogamarra Nature Reserve closed

Muogamarra Nature Reserve is only open to the public for 6 weeks every year, around spring time.

Due to the sensitive nature of the reserve, access is restricted at other times to approved educational and research activities only.

Closed areas: Muirs Lookout Picnic Area - Closed

Muirs Lookout Picnic Area on Prickly Ridge Road has been closed due to ageing infrastructure, obstructed lookout views to the coast and very low public visitation. Alternative picnic facilities are located nearby in Olney State Forest and Watagans National Park. Further information on other places to visit can be obtained via the NPWS or Forestry Corporation websites.

Closed areas: Warrah Trig Road closed to vehicles

Warrah Trig Road is closed to vehicles due to an increase in illegal activities throughout the area.

The road will remain closed until investigations are completed and further recommendations are made.

The road is open to pedestrians and cyclists.

Safety alerts: Ironbark Road access to picnic area - last 850m 4WD only

The last 850m of Ironbark Road (Crown Road) to access Ironbark picnic area is currently limited to 4WD vehicles only.

This section is not suitable for conventional 2WD vehicles due to a severely eroded hill along the Crown Road.

Visitors to this section of the park travelling by conventional 2WD vehicles will need to walk the last 850 metres to access the park and Ironbark picnic area.

Safety alerts: Prickly Ridge Road 4WD only

The section of Prickly Ridge Road between Watagan Forest Road and Cut-Rock Road is suitable for 4WD vehicles only.

To prevent further damage to the road and to protect visitor safety, please avoid this area and other trails in the reserve that are still slippery and potentially hazardous.
