  • Little Forest West Section: Dirrang Management Trail, Wollondilly River walking track, Little Forest West FT
  • GNNP- Mount Penang Part 11 lands – full closure

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an aerial baiting program in Bangadilly National Park (NP), Bargo State Conservation Area (SCA), Burragorang SCA, Guula Ngurra NP, Joadja Nature Reserve (NR), Nattai NP, Upper Nepean SCA and Upper Nepean SCA Stage 2 lands managed by NPWS from Monday 19th May – Sunday 1st June 2025.

The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes. The program will take place in

The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise the impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.

Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program from Monday 23rd September 2024 to Tuesday 23rd September 2025. The operation will use a Felixer containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of feral cats, and approved meat baits, meat bait products, and Canid Pest Ejectors (CPE) for the control of foxes and wild dogs.

The program will be conducted in Nattai National Park.

Closed areas: Section of park closed for ground shooting control program

The area of Nattai National Park between Obrien's Road and W4/Scabby Flat Trail is closed Monday 25th November 2024 to Thursday 1st May 2025 for a ground shooting control operation.

Safety alerts: Weed Spraying works

NSW NPWS will be working with contractors to complete a weed spraying program within the following reserves:

  • Guula Ngurra National Park
  • Bangadilly National Park
  • Wollondilly River Nature Reserve
  • Nattai National Park
  • Nattai State Conservation Area.

 

The main weed being sprayed is Blackberry but other environmental weeds might be treated at the same time. Do not harvest or eat blackberry fruit within these areas.

Safety alerts: Wingecarribee River walking trail impacted by flood damage

Some sections of the Wingecarribee River walking track have been severely damaged by recent floods. 

Pedestrian access is still open, however please take care when walking these sections of the track.

Park info

  • in Guula Ngurra National Park in the Country NSW region
  • The Mount Penang and Little Forest West areas of Guula Ngurra National Park are always open but may have to close at times due to poor weather or fire danger.

    The Tugalong area of Guula Ngurra National Park is open to the public from 8.30am to 5pm on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month between 1 March and 31 October. Visitors must arrive onsite before 2pm. The area is closed to the public at other times to protect sensitive natural and cultural heritage values.
