The first 600m of this walk goes past 2 lookouts along a sealed track that's mostly flat with gentle slopes. This section is suitable for wheelchair users, prams, mobility scooters and people with reduced mobility.

Getting there and parking

Apsley Gorge Rim walking track is in the Apsley River precinct of Oxley Wild Rivers National Park. To get there, follow the Oxley Highway from either Walcha or Port Macquarie and follow the signs.

Parking

Parking is available in a bitumen carpark at Apsley Falls picnic area, including 1 accessible parking space.

Accessibility

Disability access level - hard

  • There's 1 accessible parking space in the main falls carpark at the end of the entry road.
  • From the carpark, it's 60m to the main lookout and 150m to the landslide lookout along a sealed track. Both lookouts are wheelchair-accessible with assistance.
  • There's a bench seat at the main lookout where you can rest.
  • You may need assistance along other sections of the track as there are a few steps at various points.
  • There are accessible toilets at Apsley Falls picnic area and Apsley Falls campground. It's best to park your car at either location to reach them.

  • There are 3 areas in Oxley Wild Rivers National Park where you'll need day use vehicle permits: Halls Peak campground and picnic area, Riverside campground and picnic area, and Youdales Hut campground and picnic area. Day use vehicle permits can be bought online or by calling the National Parks Contact Centre on 1300 072 757. If camping, permit fees are included in the campground fee.
