Closed areas: Track closures due to Hazard Reduction Burn
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) are planning to conduct hazard reduction burns in Berowra Valley National Park in the bushland interfaces between Marine Crescent, Hornsby Heights and Simon Trail and between Ulolo Avenue, Hornsby Heights and The Outlook Fire Trail from Tuesday 3 September 2024 until further notice.
The following walking tracks, management (fire) trails and campgrounds will be closed during the hazard reduction operations, to be re-opened once safety assessments have been completed:
- Quarry Trail Hornsby between Pogson Trig, Dural and Stewart Avenue Hornsby
- Mitchell Trail in Galston
- Rowland Trail in Galston
- Calderwood Trail in Galston
- The Great North Walk Between Clarinda St, Hornsby and Galston Gorge
- Simon Fire Trail in Hornsby, between Clarinda Street, Hornsby and The Outlook in Hornsby Heights
- Ryan Trail, Hornsby
- The Outlook Fire Trail between The Outlook and Galston Road Hornsby Heights
- Top of Gorge Trail
- Ulolo Ave Fire Trail
- Tunks Ridge Fire Trail
- Tunks Ridge Camping Area
Walkers using the Great North Walk will be required to detour North via Galston Road, Montview Parade, McKay Road and McKay Trail in Hornsby Heights or walk to Asquith Station and re-join the walk at Mount Ku-ring-gai Station.
The Blue Gum Walking Track, Rosemead Trail, Pogsons Trig Trail, Pogsons Link Track and The Manor Road Great North Walk Link will remain open.

Closed areas: Parts of Blue Mountains National Park closed
Many roads, fire trails and walking tracks within Blue Mountains National Park are closed due to infrastructure upgrades or damage caused by wet weather including subsidence, rockfalls, landslides and fallen trees.
The following areas are closed:
Katoomba and Leura
- Giant Stairway closed from Thursday 29 August to end of September 2024 between Lady Game lookout and Dardanelles Pass. Access out of the valley is via Furber Steps or Amphitheatre track.
- Honeymoon Bridge is closed due to rockfall risk.
- Fern Bower track between Prince Henry Cliff walk (Grand Cliff Top walk) and Amphitheatre track is closed due to multiple landslides.
- Ruined Castle, Golden Stairs, Solitary loop and Federal Pass, west of Scenic World are closed due to multiple landslides.
- Lone Lyrebird track is closed between Gordon Road and the War Memorial, due to subsidence. Detour is in place.
- Prince Henry Cliff walk (part of Grand Cliff Top walk) is closed between Gordon Falls picnic area and Elysian Rock lookout, due to a landslide. Visit the Blue Mountains City Council website for information.
- Part of Lindeman Pass is closed due to a major landslide below Gladstone lookout. Roberts Pass is closed due to rockfall and landslide hazards.
- Six Foot track is affected by closures at Jenolan Caves.
Wentworth Falls and Woodford
- Valley of Waters track is closed below Nature track junction due to trackwork. There is no access to Empress Canyon, Empress Falls, Sylvia Falls, Roberts Pass, Vera Falls, Hippocrene Falls or Wentworth Falls from Valley of the Waters.
- Charles Darwin walk (part of the Grand Cliff Top walk) is closed between Fletcher Street and Weeping Rock. Detours are in place to provide directions to Wentworth Falls picnic area. Visit the Blue Mountains City Council website for information.
- Part of National Pass (west of Wentworth Falls middle crossing) is closed due to a major landslide and ongoing risks.
- Wentworth Pass and Slack Stairs are closed due to multiple landslides.
- Bedford Creek and Andersons fire trail will be closed Monday to Friday until Friday 30 August 2024 to allow for roadworks. There'll be no access to vehicles, pedestrians or cyclists from Anderson fire trail or Murphys Road to Ingar campground. There is also no exit to Woodford from Andersons fire trail. Trails and campgrounds will be open on Saturday and Sunday. Ingar campground is open on Saturday night only.
Blackheath, Mount Victoria and Bells Line of Road
- Mt Banks Road, picnic area and walking tracks are closed mon-fri from 2/9/2024 to 23/9/2024 for road works. Road will be open on weekends.
- Perrys Lookdown Road (including Anvil Rock) is closed to vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists from Monday 2 to Wednesday 4 September 2024 due to roadworks. The road is open on weekends. Alternative access to Acacia flat is available via Lockley Pylon.
- Williams track (Govetts descent) and Rodriguez Pass are closed due to rockfalls and landslides.
- Pulpit Rock Reserve, lookouts and walking track are closed. Visit the Blue Mountains City Council website for information. Pulpit Rock walking track from Popes Glen is open as far as the NPWS boundary (as shown on Google maps).
Adventure recreation, canyons, abseiling and rock climbing

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting an aerial baiting program using dried meat baits containing 1080 poison (sodium fluroacetate) for the control of foxes. The program will occur on Wednesday 18 and Thursday 19 September 2024 in West Head, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. Do not touch baits. Penalties apply for non-compliance.
All baiting locations are identifiable by signs.

The eastern section of Malabar Headland National Park will be closed on the following dates/times due to ANZAC Rifle Range operations:
- Every Saturday, 8am to 5pm.
- The 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, 8am to 5pm (excluding Father's Day on Sunday 1 September 2024).
- Service Rifle Championships - Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 October 2024, 8am to 5pm (both days)
Do not enter the eastern section of the national park (including Boora Point walking track) when:
- Red flags are flying above the range
- The 'rifle range in use' warning signs are displayed at the park entry (South Maroubra Beach and Fishermans Road carpark).
- Park entry gates are closed.
The western section of the national park (Western Escarpment walking track) remains open when the rifle range is in use.

State Mine Gully Road will be closed for road works (7 days) until Thursday 26th September.
The road is unable to be opened on weekends for the safety of visitors. The closure on State Mine Gully Road applies from the boundary of the State Conservation Area for a length of 1km north.
Visitors are advised to use Old Bells Line of Road (Starting at the Zig Zag Railway) as the primary access for Glow Worm Tunnel Road during the closure period.

Bowtells swing bridge on Six Foot track is closed to protect public safety. An upgrade is being planned and the bridge is expected to reopen in mid August 2024. Signs and barriers are in place to prevent access onto the bridge.
Crown Lands, which manages the bridge, is advising track users not to attempt to cross Coxs River. Any attempts to cross the river are at your own risk and are discouraged due to the potential for slips or falls, rainfall and risk of flash flooding.

Remote routes within the Kanangra Wilderness Area including Kanangra to Katoomba (K2K) trail have been impacted by heavy fire regrowth and flood damage.
In some places, tracks are no longer visible and are not easy to navigate, taking longer to traverse than expected. Limited to zero water sources are currently available along routes.

Major roadworks are ongoing in Jilliby State Conservation Area (Southern Precinct) and part of Ourimbah State Forest.
Partial and intermittent road closures should be expected. The roads that will be affected are:
- Red Hill Road
- Prestons Ridge Road
- Bradleys Point Road
- Campbells Point Road and
- Tooheys Road.
Visitors are asked to avoid the area (if possible). Otherwise, please be aware of trucks and machinery using and working on the above roads and to drive to the conditions. Warning signs and traffic control will be in place. Work is expected to be completed by September 2024. The work is funded as part of the Fire Access and Fire Trail (FAFT) program aimed at providing safe and strategic fire trails for fire response and access.

Swimming is not advisable in Berowra Creek at certain times as the water may be subject to variable pollution levels and algal blooms. Please refer to the Hornsby Shire Council website before swimming in Berowra Creek. Alternatively you can call the Hornsby Council 24 hour information line on 9847 6666 or the Algal information line on 1800 999 457.
Swimming at Fishponds is not advised at any time due to heavy water pollution.

The last 850m of Ironbark Road (Crown Road) to access Ironbark picnic area is currently limited to 4WD vehicles only.
This section is not suitable for conventional 2WD vehicles due to a severely eroded hill along the Crown Road.
Visitors to this section of the park travelling by conventional 2WD vehicles will need to walk the last 850 metres to access the park and Ironbark picnic area.

Closed parks: Yiraaldiya National Park closed during the establishment of feral predator-free area
Yiraaldiya National Park is a feral predator-free area. This means that feral predators, such as red foxes and feral cats, are being eradicated from the park. Locally extinct native wildlife are being reintroduced, including eastern bettongs, koalas and long-nosed bandicoots. For this reason, there is no access to the park while the feral predator-free area is being established. Once complete, the park will open for sustainable visitor access and enjoyment, and educational and research opportunities.
During the closure period visitors may not visit the park, and only NPWS staff and authorised contractors and volunteers are allowed entry to the park.

Some parts of North Head in Sydney Harbour National Park are closed due to fire damage and geological instability. The closed areas include:
- Bluefish Point
- Wastewater Treatment Plant emergency access road
The following areas, and the bushland surrounding them, are also closed due to steep and unstable ground:
- Old Man's Hat
- Cannae Point
- Quarantine Head
Do not enter the closed areas.
Open areas include:
- Q Station
- North Head Sanctuary and Bella Vista Cafe (entry via North Fort)
- The track between Shelly Beach and Bluefish Drive
- Bluefish Drive to the Avenue of Honour
- Collins Flat Beach

Closed areas: Flat Rock track partial closure
The section of Flat Rock track from the Killarney Drive entrance to the Downpatrick Street entrance, is permanently closed as the old track passes through private property near Killarney Point.
Please note:
- Walkers heading west should exit Flat Rock track at the eastern end of Killarney Drive and use Killarney Drive until you reach Downpatrick Street. Then walk down the street and re-enter Flat Rock track from the Downpatrick Street fire trail.
- Walkers heading east should exit Flat Rock track at the Downpatrick Street fire trail and use Downpatrick Street, then Killarney Drive until you reach the end of Killarney Drive. Re-enter Flat Rock track from the Killarney Drive entrance.
