Closed parks: National Parks closed due to ex-tropical cyclone Alfred

For safety, most national parks and reserves from the QLD/NSW border to the Hastings River at Port Macquarie are closed until Monday 17 March due to heavy rainfall, flooding and damaging winds caused by ex-tropical cyclone Alfred. Public access roads through parks will not be affected by park closures.

Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Closed areas: Halls Peak picnic area and campground closed due to predicted rainfall

Halls Peak picnic area and campground will be closed from Thursday 6 March 2025 until Wednesday 12 March 2025. 

This closure is in place due to predicted rainfall and an increased risk of flooding in the area.

  • There are 3 areas in Oxley Wild Rivers National Park where you'll need day use vehicle permits: Halls Peak campground and picnic area, Riverside campground and picnic area, and Youdales Hut campground and picnic area. Day use vehicle permits can be bought online or by calling the National Parks Contact Centre on 1300 072 757. If camping, permit fees are included in the campground fee.
