Closed areas: Part Park Closure due to Fire Danger

Due to the fire danger weather forecast conditions, Warrumbungle National Park walking tracks and remote campsites will be closed on Monday 23 December 2024.

Walking tracks and remote campsites are closed from 5:00pm Sunday 22 December to 9:00am Tuesday 24 December.

The following walking tracks will remain open:

  • White Gum Lookout walking track,
  • Wambelong nature trail
  • Gurianawa circuit

The following campsites will remain open:

  • Blackman
  • Walaay
  • Wambelong

Closed areas: Christmas and Boxing Day closure

The Warrumbungle Visitor Centre will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The centre will reopen at 9:00AM 27 December 2024.

Fire bans: Park Fire Ban

A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:

  • They're under direct control of an adult
  • The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
  • There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)

If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

Due to the fire weather forecast conditions, all visitor areas within the Pilliga Forest will be closed on Monday 23 December 2024.

This closure includes all walking tracks, visitor picnic facilities and campgrounds.
