Fire bans: Fireban for Kinchega National Park from 31 October 2024
A park fire ban is in place in this park and remains in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamine) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:
- They're under direct control of an adult
- The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
- There's an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)
If a Total Fire Ban is in place, different rules apply. Contact the local park office before bringing a gas or electric barbecue or cooker.

Council-managed access roads to Mungo National Park are unsealed and in variable condition. Before travelling on any unsealed roads, please check road condition reports for Balranald, Wentworth and Central Darling Shires. Do not travel on closed Council roads.

Mutawintji National Park has opened to 2WD via Silver City Highway and from White Cliffs. Waterbag Road still has ONLY 4WD access. This status will be updated as road conditions change. In the meantime please check with RMS road authority on 08 8082 6699 for current road conditions in the area.

Mutawintji Homestead Creek campground is undergoing works on the ablutions block. The work will commence on Monday, 14 October and conclude in early November 2024. The campground will still be accessible and available to campers and there will be temporary toilet facilities at the campground for the duration of the upgrade.
