Getting there and parking
The Royal Hotel is in the centre of town in Hill End Historic Site. To get there:
From Bathurst (allow 1.5hrs)
- Turn off the Great Western highway onto Gilmour St at Kelso
- Follow Sofala Road for around 45km
- At Sofala, turn left onto Hill End Road and continue for around 37.5km to Hill End Historic Site
From Mudgee (allow 1.25hrs)
- Head north, towards Gulgong on the Castlereagh Highway
- Turn left onto Hill End Road and continue for around 69km to Hill End Historic Site

Several parking spots are available on bitumen seal Beyers Avenue, in front of the Royal Hotel or General Store.

Royal Hotel in Hill End has some accessible facilities including:

- Accessible picnic tables in the paved outdoor area
- Step-free access around the paved outdoor area.
There are some parts of the hotel where people with reduced mobility may need assistance:
- Access into the building is not step-free. There's a single step onto the verandah at the front of the building and a small lip to get in the door at the main entrance.
- To reach the outdoor bistro area through the back of the building, you'll need to go through a single doorway with a small lip.
- The first storey of the Royal Hotel has narrow doorways and small steps.
- There's no wheelchair access to the second storey
Permitted
The Royal Hotel is a family-friendly environment and children can enjoy themselves in all parts of the hotel except the main bar, which is restricted to 18 years and over.

Drones
Flying a drone for recreational purposes is prohibited in this area. Drones may affect public enjoyment, safety and privacy, interfere with park operations, or pose a threat to wildlife. See the Drones in Parks policy.

Commercial filming or photography is prohibited without prior consent. You must apply for permission and contact the local office.
Pets
