Opening times
The section of road between Khancoban and Cabramurra is closed in winter (June to October long weekends).

Khancoban to Kiandra drive crosses central Kosciuszko National Park as it connects Alpine Way with Snowy Mountains Highway. As it winds up through mountain forest to the alpine plains, there are plenty of attractions to break up the journey and make a day of it.

Historic huts, remote campgrounds, bushwalking tracks, and trails for mountain biking and horse riding all tempt you to explore new areas of this vast and varied national park. Between Khancoban and Cabramurra, Australia's highest town, the drive crosses two dams used in Snowy Mountains' Hydro-Electric Scheme.

If you’re up for a serious adventure, you can even venture into the wild and beautiful Jagungal Wilderness Area.

Conservation program:

Southern corroboree frog conservation project

An iconic endangered species, the southern corroboree frog, found only in Kosciuszko National Park, faces the grave threat of extinction. Saving Our Species aims to prevent this from happening by battling chytrid fungus, protecting frog habitat from pests, and fostering a captive breeding program.
