Closed areas: Thredbo Valley track closed for Event
Thredbo Valley track and surrounding areas will be closed and inaccessible at various times on Friday 7 February 2025, due to an event.
The following tracks will be closed:
- Upper Thredbo Valley track from Thredbo Resort to Thredbo Diggings campground from 7:30am to 4:00pm;
- Muzzlewood track, between Thredbo Diggings campground and Bullocks Flat from 7:30am to 4:00pm;
- Lower Thredbo Valley track from Bullocks Flat to Gaden Trout Hatchery from 11:30am to 5:30pm.
Thredbo Valley track (Thredbo Diggings to Bullocks Falt) and Bullocks walking track will remain open for out and back use from Thredbo Diggings campground, but there will be no access to Bullocks Flat.
Lower Thredbo Valley Track will remain open for out and back access from Thredbo River Picnic Area, but there will be no access to Gaden Trout Hatchery or beyond during the closure period.

Other planned events: Fire trail maintenance work- Schlink Pass
Essential fire trail drainage maintenance, including culvert replacements will be occurring on Schlink Pass Road between the 10th February – 28th February 2025, between Guthega Power Station and Whites River Hut.
During this time, pedestrians access will be maintained but visitors are asked to follow the direction of Contractors and NPWS staff.

Closed areas: Thredbo River picnic area toilet closed
Recent severe winds have brought down a tree on the toilet block at Thredbo River picnic area. As a result the toilet block is closed and cannot be utilised. Please be aware that contractors will be working at the site and will have vehicles moving in and out of the area. Other facilities at the site are available.

Other planned events: Notice of 1080 ongoing program
The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a baiting program using baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes. The program will be continuous and ongoing between Friday 9 August 2024 and Friday 7 February 2025. These programs are part of an integrated pest animal control strategy, aimed at minimising the impacts of these animals on neighbouring stock.
Baiting programs will be conducted in Thredbo/Ingebyra, Dalgety/Paupong and Corrowong/Tombong/Merriangaah Wild Dog Plan Areas. Baiting programs will also be undertaken in Paupong, Merriangaah and Quidong Nature Reserves.
This includes the following sections of Kosciuszko National Park:
- Thredbo Valley
- Moonbah
- Ingebyra
- Paupong
- Numbla Vale
- Corrowong
All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs.
Please be reminded that domestic pets are not permitted on NPWS Estate. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Several buildings in the Bullocks Hut complex are closed until further notice for restoration works. Please do not enter the construction sites.
