Located on NSW's Northern Tablelands near Tenterfield, Glenn Innes and Grafton, Washpool Flora Reserve protects forests that play a valuable role in conservation. It lies on the northern boundary of Washpool National Park, the preserve of ancient, World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforests.

Washpool Flora Reserve is in Bundjalung Country. It’s jointly managed by NPWS and the Ngullingah Jugun (Our Country) Aboriginal Corporation under the Western Bundjalung Indigenous Land Use Agreement.

The reserve is home to a wide range of native plants and animals, including tree-dwelling mammals and diverse bird species. Endangered brush-tailed rock-wallabies are among the 18 threatened animal species found here.

About flora reserves

Flora reserves were established under the Forestry Act 2012 and remain State Forest. Under a unique management arrangement, this land is managed by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. This ensures management is consistent with the adjoining national parks.
