Overview

Jellore Flora Reserve was created in November 2020. It covers an area of 1400ha. View the detailed park and fire management documents.

Located near Mittagong in Gundungurra County, the reserve is part of a wider area managed under the Gundungurra Indigenous Land Use Agreement. Jellore Flora Reserve is made up of 2 separate areas. Both areas share a boundary with Nattai National Park but are separated from each other by strip of private land.

Nattai National Park and Jellore Flora Reserve are part of a wider, extensive area of protected sandstone landscape, the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. Jellore Flora Reserve is a natural area that fosters biodiversity and lies within a region that's important for koala conservation. Other threatened animals, including greater gliders, powerful owls and gang-gang cockatoos make their homes here too.

Jellore Flora Reserve is also part of the protected water catchment area for Warragamba Dam, a major source of Sydney’s drinking water.

About flora reserves

Flora reserves were established under the Forestry Act 2012 and remain State Forest. Under a unique management arrangement, this land is managed by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. This ensures management is consistent with the adjoining national parks, which are also being managed for their cultural values and for koala conservation.
