Careunga Nature Reserve
Overview
Careunga Nature Reserve was created in January 1971. It covers an area of 469ha. View the detailed park and fire management documents.
This former timber reserve near Garah protects remnant vegetation in a region that has been highly modified by agriculture.
Belah forest dominates the reserve, with small areas of Queensland blue grass, brigalow and myall.
The threatened painted honeyeater has been recorded breeding in the reserve..
Access is limited and walking, nature appreciation and study are the only permitted activities. You will need to contact the ranger when planning your visit.
