Are you ready to become an estuary expert? Join this family-friendly nature tour at Merimbula Lake Boardwalk near Bournda National Park these school holidays to discover a thriving coastal ecosystem.

Friday 10 January and Tuesday 8 April, 1pm to 2.30pm.

Grade
Easy. Suitable for children aged 5 to 15 years. You’ll walk for 1.7km along the boardwalk and sand.
Price
Adult $16 per person. Child (5 to 15 years)/concession $10 per person. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Meeting point
Carpark at the beginning of Merimbula Lake Boardwalk, beside the Merimbula Bridge.

Head over to Merimbula Lake Boardwalk, near Bournda National Park, for fun in the wetlands. You’ll explore the estuaries (where the river meets the sea) and get an up-close look at the small creatures that call this environment home.

Join your NPWS guide at low tide and venture along the boardwalk and down onto the sand. Here you’ll explore a complex mangrove ecosystem that’s teeming with life. Play a fun game of boardwalk bingo as you discover the variety of creatures that live in the estuaries and different tidal zones.

Remember to wear enclosed shoes that are okay to get muddy.

Getting there and parking

From Merimbula Visitor Information Centre:

  • Drive south along Market street toward Pambula for 550 metres
  • Turn right into the car park just before Merimbula Bridge.
